“My feelings are the subject of my art. My intention is for my paintings to express how I feel about the world and people, and my relationship to them.”
I paint what touches me most, usually something in my inner or outer world that moves me deeply. This not only brings me closer in touch with who I am and what I feel, but it also helps me process what I might not otherwise understand.
My artwork always has to do with feelings—my own as well as those evoked by the world around me. The images are sometimes portraits of an emotional mood that simply comes out of me when I sit down with a brush and canvas. At other times they may reveal intimate feelings such as those between a mother and child or could be forced by events in the outside world, such as the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq.
